PHŒBE PRESS is a publishing house in the Netherlands that focuses on monographs and artist catalogs. The books are mostly edited and
designed by publisher M.H. Orfanos. The name “Phoebe” is etymologically related to the word “bright” and “shining”, reflecting Orfanos‘ focus on visually striking designs that are not the product of commercial publications.
Each publication's limited print run puts an emphasis on original typography, concept, graphic design and technology. PHŒBE PRESS was
founded in mid-March 2024 by graphic designer and publisher M.H. Orfanos. The website design focuses on the recently published book, rather than functioning as a database of several books. The website changes its design based on the content.
M.H. Orfanos is a graphic designer, typographer and publisher. He specializes in the design of artist catalogs and monographs. Orfanos recently founded PHŒBE PRESS to share these publications and works primarily in the Netherlands and France. Currently he is working on a new collaboration, with American artist Heidi Howard, “COLORS MAKE US DO VIBRANT DEEDS!.” In this monograph, Orfanos joins Howard in creating a color spectrum to explore Howard's collected œuvre, portrayed sitters, and photographic archives.
